There are quality online cyber security and information assurance degrees that may be taken from anywhere. With that said, there are often benefits to choosing a cyber security program based on it’s geographic location. In-state tuition can make the difference between being able to head to school or not. The proximity of degree programs to large cyber security job markets often helps with networking and vocational opportunity. And in-person events and support services are often more readily available (or in greater number) than online offerings. Furthermore, while some universities offer all degree options fully online, most offer a wider range of academic programs in-person. For these reasons, it’s often useful to at least consider degree programs within your academic region, even if you will primarily be taking online course work.
